Everyone who has read the book might have the same question: Is Daisy Jones and The Six a real band?

In short, they are not a real band.

Daisy Jones & The Six is a book written by Taylor Jenkins Reid about the story of a female singer-songwriter, Daisy, who meets the band The Six, and their collaboration takes their career even further.

This book is written in dialogue format and reads like a transcript of a music documentary, giving it a highly authentic feel and fooling its readers into thinking that they did actually exist.

Well then, is Daisy Jones and the Six a real band?

Even though the band’s history is fictional, one real band is behind her inspiration for the book.

While writing Daisy Jones and the Six, Reid admits that the band Fleetwood Mac inspired her.

According to her, Lindsey Buckingham looked like someone who fell in love when watching Stevie Nicks sing Landslide, but we’ll never truly know what lived between them. Therefore, Reid wanted to write a story about that.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Reid stated that she wants the readers to feel immersed in the book. She wants the readers to feel like they were there, not reading fiction. And as one of the readers, I think that the book succeeded in doing what it intended to do.

One of my favourite lines from the book is, “All I will say is that you show up for your friends on their hardest days. And you hold their hand through the roughest parts. Life is about who is holding your hand and, I think, whose hand you commit to holding.”

Their story feels complete and genuine. I did not feel like I was reading a made-up story by a person. The question raised while reading this book was just how I never heard of this group of famous people. I feel rather silly afterwards, though.

Daisy Jones and The Six show release date

The great news is our experience with Daisy Jones and the Six will not stop with just the book and its audio version. They’ll feel more alive now that a TV show based on this book is in the works. In fact, they’ve been shooting since September 2021.

Riley Keough, who will play Daisy Jones in the show, shared the photo below.

Amazon ordered a 13-episode limited series based on Daisy Jones and the Six in July 2018, months before the novel was released. The show uses a “documentary-style” approach, similar to the structure of the original book.

Some prominent Hollywood figures have sponsored the project, including Hello Sunshine, Reese Witherspoon’s production company.

The show was released on March 3, 2023, and was generally accepted by the critics and the public. They bring some of the songs from the book into a real song. So, in some way, the band exist now.

Have you watched it?

Daisy Jones and The Six songs

I remember very well, after reading the description and lyrics of the song Aurora, I went looking for it on Spotify and YouTube. That’s when I realized Daisy Jones and the Six didn’t really exist.

However, with the TV show adaptation of this book, the hope of hearing the song has now come true because the show will include a selection of original songs that will be available on Amazon Music.

Based on the lyrics, other songs I want to hear include Honeycomb, A Hope Like You, Chasing the Night, and Regret Me.

I want to hear Daisy singing these lyrics in her beautiful voice, “When you look in the mirror, take stock of your soul. And when you hear my voice, remember you ruined me whole.”

  1. I personally cannot wait more for the tv series to release. The book is one of the best books I’ll probably read in my lifetime, and Taylor Jenkin Reids is just a master at this craft. One of my favorite things is the fact we got lyrics at the end of the book to the songs! It just shows how much effort and thought went into writing this brilliant story.
